Start from the symptom – what the door is doing

• Door will not open at all – nine causes, checked in order.
• Opener hums but nothing moves – trolley, stripped gear, broken spring or frozen seal.
• Opens a few inches and stops, or stalls halfway – usually a spring or salt-rusted rollers.
